A clearer view of your heart’s risk

Cardiac Risk

£99+ £25 blood draw per visit, however many tests you book8 biomarkersResults in 5–7 working days

Heart disease often develops quietly, without obvious symptoms, which is why measuring risk is worthwhile before anything makes itself known. This panel brings together the key indicators: a full lipid profile including total, HDL, LDL and non-HDL cholesterol, triglycerides and your cholesterol-to-HDL ratio, plus high-sensitivity CRP as a marker of inflammation and HbA1c to reflect your average blood sugar over recent months.

Read together, these markers offer a rounded sense of your cardiovascular risk rather than a single figure alone. Your sample is a straightforward venous draw taken in our private Leigh-on-Sea clinic and analysed by an accredited UK laboratory, with a doctor-reviewed report explaining what your numbers mean, and where lifestyle changes might help, returned to you within 5–7 working days.

It is a sensible choice if heart disease runs in your family, or if you want to know where you stand as you get older. Any findings that warrant attention are worth discussing with your GP, who can set them in the context of your blood pressure, weight and wider health to decide whether anything more is needed.

Preparation: Fast for 8–12 hours before your appointment. Water is fine, and morning appointments make fasting easiest.

About this test

  • It gives the most accurate triglyceride and blood sugar readings. Eight to twelve hours without food is enough, with water freely allowed throughout.

  • Your full lipid profile, inflammation (hs-CRP) and average blood sugar (HbA1c), with a doctor’s explanation of your overall cardiovascular risk and where lifestyle may help.

  • The Cholesterol test focuses on lipids alone. Cardiac Risk adds hs-CRP and HbA1c for a fuller view of your heart-disease risk.
