A fuller picture of your hormones

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

£129+ £25 blood draw per visit, however many tests you book14 biomarkersResults in 5–7 working days

Polycystic ovary syndrome shows up differently for everyone, which can make it hard to understand what your body is doing. This panel takes a broad, supportive look at the hormones and markers often involved, including testosterone and the free androgen index, luteinising and follicle stimulating hormones, prolactin and oestradiol, to help build a clearer picture of what may be going on.

Because PCOS can affect metabolism as well as hormones, we include a cholesterol profile, and check TSH and free T4 to rule thyroid changes in or out. Your sample is a single venous draw taken in our private Leigh-on-Sea clinic and analysed by an accredited UK laboratory, with results in a doctor’s report.

No single blood test diagnoses PCOS. It is one part of a picture that also includes your symptoms and, sometimes, a scan. What these results offer is clarity and a sense of direction: a clear, jargon-free report you can bring to your GP to guide any next steps, without alarm and without assumptions.

Preparation: No fasting is essential, though avoiding a heavy, fatty meal beforehand gives the most reliable cholesterol readings. If you are still having periods, note where you are in your cycle for your report, and avoid biotin supplements for two days before your draw.

About this test

  • Not on its own. PCOS is diagnosed from a combination of symptoms, hormone results and sometimes a scan. This panel gives a clear, detailed picture of the relevant markers to discuss with your GP.

  • PCOS is linked with how the body manages sugar and fats, so a cholesterol profile adds useful context alongside the hormone results, for a fuller view of your overall health.

  • Most reports are returned within 5–7 working days of your sample reaching the laboratory, reviewed and explained by a doctor.
