Understand the biology behind your weight
Weight Loss
Weight is shaped by more than willpower. Thyroid hormones set your metabolic pace, blood sugar and insulin resistance affect how you store energy, cortisol responds to stress, and testosterone and inflammation each play their part. This panel brings these threads together, offering a clearer view of the biology working with or against your efforts.
It is particularly useful before starting a weight-loss plan, or while following a medically supported programme, including the newer weight-loss medications. Establishing your baseline across thyroid, metabolism, stress and inflammation helps you and your clinician understand where your effort is best directed and track how your body responds over the weeks ahead.
Your sample is a single venous draw taken in our private Leigh-on-Sea clinic and analysed by an accredited UK laboratory, with a doctor’s report within 5–7 working days. Because it includes a lipid screen and blood sugar, a fasted morning appointment sets a reliable baseline you can revisit as your programme progresses.
Preparation: A morning appointment is preferred. As this panel includes a lipid screen and blood sugar, fast for 8–12 hours beforehand, drinking only water. Cortisol is also best measured in the morning, so an early draw gives the clearest picture.

About this test
It is well suited to it. Measuring thyroid, blood sugar, cortisol and lipids before or during a programme lets you and your clinician judge how well it is working and make more informed decisions.
Weight is influenced by more than diet. Thyroid and cortisol affect metabolism and appetite, testosterone plays a role in how you build and burn energy, and inflammation can quietly work against progress, so seeing them together helps.
Yes. Because the panel includes cholesterol and blood sugar, fasting for 8–12 hours with only water gives the most accurate results. A morning appointment makes this easiest.
