Full Blood Count

£69+ £25 blood draw per visit, however many tests you book13 biomarkersResults in 5–7 working days

The full blood count is the quiet workhorse of health testing, often the first thing a doctor requests because it says so much in a single sample. It examines the three main components of your blood: red cells, which carry oxygen; white cells, which defend against infection; and platelets, which help your blood to clot.

Within that, it measures haemoglobin and a detailed set of red-cell indices, a white-cell count with its full five-part differential, and your platelet count. Read together, these figures offer a snapshot of how your body is doing and can highlight conditions worth understanding.

Your sample is a single venous draw, taken in our private Leigh-on-Sea clinic and analysed by an accredited UK laboratory, with a doctor-reviewed report to follow. If you are feeling run down, or just want a baseline, it is a sound place to begin, and a clear basis for anything worth raising with your GP.

Preparation: No fasting required. You can eat and drink normally and book at a time that suits you. If you take any regular medication, note it so it can be considered alongside your results.

About this test

  • It gives a broad view of your blood health, pointing towards things like anaemia, signs of infection or inflammation and clotting-related changes. It is a starting point that helps guide whether anything needs a closer look.

  • No. A full blood count does not require fasting, so you can eat and drink as normal and come in whenever is convenient.

  • Most reports are returned within 5–7 working days of your sample reaching the laboratory, reviewed and explained by a doctor.
